I think that the near-universal consensus is, with all due respetto to "Thee Mahn EEtaly Called 'The Golden Thighs' " (Corelli), that the "gold standard" in Pag is that wifebeating drunk mystico-erotic figure Jussi Bjorling.
The Arkivmusic product page has two informative reviews, and the CD of this 1953 recording (excellent sound for its age; mono of course) can be had new for the prince's ransom of $8.99. Link below.
There is a sound-only YT up where you can hear the whole schmeer in craptascularly squashed sound.
I am sure you can pick up near-new LPs for a song, so to speak. I think I sold them at the community library sale last year for $2 or $4. Here's what the Pez-Dispenser people say:

Be there or be square.

PS: My late uncle who went to grad school at Columbia post-WWII was a real fan and something of a grooupie.

I assume this is the original American release. Is that correct? There is also a Seraphim reissue from 1969. Thanks for the recommendation.

Yes, the original American release was on RCA.
De Los Angeles and Warren are equally superb in that recording. I especially like De Los Angeles' acting (with her voice) in the final scene when she's trying to prevent Pagliaccio from transitioning from his stage character to real life.
Another great Pagliacci is Callas diStefano, Gobbi, Panerai, Serafin on EMI. But IMO nobody beats Warren in the Prologue.
Someone mentioned the DVD with Vickers, which I also think is a great performance. But note that the DVD shows the singers lip-syncing along with their own previously recorded vocal performances:

Tight and small but oh so musical.
I still prefer balls to the wall with Corelli. It's THAT kind of opera.
Everything must hang out.
YMMV

Stefan Zucker told an X-rated story about a female Corelli fan from New Jersey.
It was Zucker who referred to Corelli as "Thee Mahn EETaly called 'The Golden Thighs' "
NB, not "throat": THIGHS.
Too many sword-and-sandal roles, perhaps.

I am talking about serious reality disorders.
I mean, in most modern man/woman relationships, there comes a point where the woman says, "I can't do that; I am saving THAT in the event I ever get a crack at my favorite opera singer."
Right?
Although I admit that when I was a tyke I found Risė Stevens very fetching. And later on, Kiri te K.

Rise (sigh), my old boss.
I'm in love with the 1999 version of Angela Gheroghiu and that DVD she made with her then husband Alagna.
