"Mr. Diller told my dealer mine will go to the head of the production line this 2nd warranty repair for a quicker turn around time (vs 89 days the first time which I greatly appreciated to know. I too was made aware of the personal health reasons at the shop which was/is unfortunate and quite understandable with and smaller manufacture and scheduling . Made in the U.S.A. , baby ;')"
IMO you haven't done Magnepan any favor by relating your story here. It would have been commendable for them to simply to replace the speaker. Their repairs being non-existent or in short supply, which is not acceptable by my standards, they should cease manufacturing their product. If I was thinking about buying a 3.7i (which I'm not), your story would give me second thoughts. (And if that wasn't enough, their 'i' story still ticks me off.)
I experienced something similar with a 60+K SUV (though it was usable) and its manufacturer assembled a new one. Well, I could have had it declared a 'lemon' forever identifiable by its VIN.
Follow Ups:
Only related "Truth" when pressed for details in the effort to resolve my possible amp upgrade as a solution to eliminate further down time and of course, I do not want to harm my drivers nor the manufacture's reputation, especially if I am doing something I might otherwise change out, positioning, room treatments(less) or amplifier, other than my expectation(s) re: listening levels / presentation .
Ergo Amp upgrade recommendations with the added possibility of greater audiophile nuances (incremental increases in separation, foward to back imaging depth, dynamics and that already articulate bass(recording as always , dependent).
I do not mean to disparage Parasound either ; However , I rightfully refuse to edit the truth in any case, only stated in order to further understanding of what is at issue, so as I can ferret opinions aimed at resolution... I can afford a Magtech as I said to my A.V. South sales rep , I cannot afford my assembled component chain and present moments tick by seemingly, harsh as it is to say, wasted ...Yet Again !
I would never and did not mean to disparage anyone, in fact enclosed is the related health reasons at the maggie shop as explained to my sales rep as well as else where here on the forums which as I stated is unfortunate for the gentleman himself and understandable running a small shop in terms of scheduling .
Enough said in terms of every ones understanding this listeners point of view although, I did question my hearing and scheduled to be tested: results indicated only a slight loss in one ear for my aged group, which was good to hear ;')
-Best regards to all
Amplifiers or not, you received a defective 3.7i and its repair didn't resolve the issue. A customer shouldn't have to face a third repair, head of the line or not. The point being that the 3.7i is defective, regardless of which amplifier you already own or choose to eventually own. I hope your Maggie dealer arrives at your home (at your convenience) to take them down, pack 'em up and ship them back to Magnepan, and then reverses the process with the replacement speaker, (all being at Magnepan's expense).
If 3.7s are a handful, long ago I had Tympani III-Bs that were returned to Magnepan.
