thought I'd share this with everyone, made this over the weekend. Fits my needs in the sense that it's portable -meaning it covers the tv and once the listening session is over it's lightweight enough (less than 5 lbs) to move and hang on the wall.Total cost: about $50
gonna remove the throw rugs on the walls and make more for the front and side walls over the weekend.
Initial impressions are very promising

diffusers are tuned in a sense.
Here is link to BBC calculator for a certain type of diffusor.
Enter your frequency limits and it'll spit out the desired diffuser dimensions.

thanks! working on another
GL,
My immediate question as soon as I hear the description was the same as comments posted following the video, isn't this more of an absorber than diffuser? Open cell foam will trap sound waves, not diffuse them.
This is not to say your effort was not worthwhile. Only that it may be doing something different than you expected.
"The piano ain't got no wrong notes." Thelonious Monk
Longer waves can be diffused by larger objects. the very highest frequencies may indeed go INTO the foam and 'get lost'. At the very shortest wavelengths.
the pictured device WILL diffuse, but probably not a very wide bandwidth.
Scan down to the section where it notes LF limits based on well DEPTH and HF limits based on well WIDTH.
I would hope for some help from a Math Wiz to figure this out.

I figure anything would be an improvement over that TV!
Most of my room treatments are also DIY - and can help the room acoustics substantially.
I'm thinking I need a bit more behind my speakers than the two Skylines.
almost looks professional! :) Foam or cardboard?
sort of a foam; there's a video explanation on the OP.
Will look 'professional' the next go 'round, I plan on doing several-
Looks very promising. If you are going to do another set then consider filling in more of the center cavity.
Yep that's the plan, gonna pack em' in there tighter. Getting a couple more boxes in the mail on Friday.
