Well earlier this year I sold both pairs of my ESLs to make room and I also took advantage of the opportunity to sell when I could.
I had a pair of cores that were purchased in pieces from someone that couldn't put things back together again. I had these cores for >10years.
I set out to re-build one last pair. Had the panesl rebuilt, re-worked audio transformers, refinish etc. Lots of work . I forgot how much was involved.
Up and breaking in now with the Bedini 25/25- which in its own right was real pain to get up and running after numerous biasing problems due mainly to the insane heat this thing produces. I usually run tubes but I wanted the classic early 80's set up with the Bedini.
This is the latest model pair that I have ever had. Looks like early 80s production with IEC socket . It has a CSA certification plate as well so definitely a North American/Canadian import.
Sounding good so far just like I remember them!

Wow nice work! I wish I had the confidence and know how to tackle something like this. I love my PK restored Quads so much, they are really something special. I love them so much I am considering getting another pair and stacking them. AJ, did you ever try them stacked when you had 4?
Yes, I did run them stacked. More energy bass wise, not sure there was much more to gain to be honest. I liked them on their own better from the perspective of positioning them more easily and simplicity.
Just my opinion.
Have fun.
Yes it seems like from what I've read reviews are mixed on stacked Quads. They are demanding little buggers about positioning, I can see how precisely positioning four might be a challenge. I'm moving to a larger listing room soon (17' x 20') so I'm (perhaps incorrectly) anticipating a bass shortage. In my small room (10'x 17') I thought the Quads were just about perfect but at times I wondered how to get a bit more bass. I really liked the sound of my Marantz 8b with them, but maybe a SS amp would tighten up the bass a touch. I have a Quad 303 that I have yet to try with the 57's.
Seems like reviews are mixed on pairing these with a sub too, maybe I should just let them be...
