Anyone using a First Watt B4 to Bi-amp their 3.6"s? I ordered one and will be getting it this week. If anyone has one in use what settings are you using?

Thought I would be giving a report on the B4 by now, however, Found I had a blown ribbon on one speaker, ordered a new one today, when replaced I will give my impressions of the bi amp setup.
One advantage to active biamping is that it provides protection to the tweeter. When the bass amplifier is stressed (clips), the treble amp is unaffected. I ran my IIIa's for about 15 years without fuses and had no tweeter problems.

Ribbon Protection ,That is one of my motivations to bi-amp. I got a great deal on a new B4 on aduigon( $900 ) so It did not seem too much to pay. It is very well built and offers so much flexibilty
Agree whole-heartedly 66mgb. The only thing the B4 doesn't provide is balanced/XLR connections, for those with a pre-amp and/or power amp having XLR's only.
Replaced my blown ribbon, a piece of cake! everything back to normal, though the volume is now a little lower out of caution. As soon as my additional new cables arrive for the crossover, the B4 will be put in place, with a Pass X150.5 on mid and tweeter and a B&K Ex4420 on the bass.
Don't have a B4 or 3.6 but I suggest a 4th order LP set at 200 Hz and a 1st order HP set at 240 Hz. These settings are different from those suggested by Magnepan but are almost identical to the OEM crossover.

My active crossover have 4th order low pass at 280 Hz (-6dB) and 1st order high pass at 200 Hz. The high pass can be done passive. The BĪ is a flexible but expensive solution...
Not exactly cheap, but a lot cheaper than the Bryston, and more flexible, offering 4th order-24/dB octave filtering; the Bryston doesn't. The B4 also has many more x/o frequencies that does the Bryston, and is built with Jfets operated with no feedback. The B4's circuitry is free of opamps, too (as is the Bryston, but not the Marchand).
