Maggie .7 and Sound Anchor Stands
The Sound Anchor stands were installed in the lowest position on the Maggie .7s (not quite 7" off the floor) with the spikes and sound coasters.
Installation was easy. No modifications necessary. Uses existing mounting threads and came complete with all hardware.
The paint finish (color and texture) is an exact match for the Maggie black aluminum side trim.
The speakers are more stable than before, and even easier to move than with the original stands (don't have to be concerned about rubbing or damaging the fabric sock on the floor when moving).
The sound:
I found an immediate improvement in focus (the Maggies sound less diffused), more space around instruments and a subtle refinement in micro details.
There is also an attenuation in the bass.
To validate what I was hearing, I measured frequencies 1khz down through 25hz.
Frequencies 63hz, 50hz, and 40hz were each down almost 3db.
My Rel sub woofer was placed back into the system. It required a slight increase in crossover and volume and overall, produced the same measured results as previously achieved with the original speaker stands.
The sub integrates better with the Sound Anchor stands (more seamless, cleaner, and richer sound).
I prefer some music with the sub and some without, just like the original stands.
The Sound Anchor stands have refined the overall system sound and is definitely adding to my listening enjoyment.
Follow Ups:
is this the M12 stand? asked which Sound Anchor stands will work with the .7 to SA and posted in AC but no answers!!
Thanks Larry for helping sort this out.
According to Sound Anchors, their stand fits both the MG12 and .7 models.

Yes
Thanks Larry for the update Sound Anchor didn't provide me with this info when I contacted them. I will go ahead and order a pair now that I know better!
Best Regards!
You can block the bottom slot formed when you raised the maggie off the floor with a board and get back a little of the bass by closing out the dipole acoustic short circuit on the bottom. It is going to be noticeable in increased bass but not give all of it back. The main loss in bass is from the increased distance from the floor, where floor bounce increased available bass relative to the raised position. Simple boundary loading that was lost.
The attenuation of bass without my sub is not a problem given the genre of music I listen to.
Although a few of the lowest frequencies are attenuated, the clarity and focus of the bass has improved.
After the immediate change and comparison, the difference is not an issue. In fact many recordings sound better without the sub.
Recordings that require the sub are also more enjoyable with the Sound Anchor stands.
Please keep in mind that these changes are more subtle than dramatic. For me, the overall improvement justifies the cost, and I also like the way they look.
Not surprised to hear about the focus/space/micro detail. I am surprised about the bass attenuation. Does anyone know if this also occurs with mye stands? Thanks Tim
There would be no loss of bass with my/Mye stands. The loss, as noted by Satie in another reply, is caused by lifting the speakers off the floor. Filling in the void on the SA's would help somewhat.
Looking at the pictures in the Mye sound gallery their stands rises the speakers ABOVE the GROUND TOO. They seems to provide a firmer foundation thou!
The thickness of the stands and points. Stealth option would nullify that.
Nothing at all like the higher SA mounting.
Grant has too much class to point out that his Mye stand provides support and stiffness to the whole Maggie panel, not just the bottom like the Sound Anchor stand, so I'll do it for him! The Sound Anchor design is great for Vandersteen 1/2/3 loudspeakers, and even the Eminent Technology LFT-8b, because they don't have the structural weakness of the large pieces of MDF that the Maggies do. For them, Mye is the only way to go!
Agree! just looking at the pictures you can tell is a more solid foundation as I mentioned before. My doubt is about price to performance ratio with the cheaper Magnepan. Can the price of a stand costing basically the same amount of money as the speakers (almost for the MMG) will justify that investment? Will the improvement be that great? That said seems to be a good value for the 3.7 and above. Just an opinion!

I found the same results when I added anchors to my year old MMG's.

I' echo your thoughts-just installed sound anchors on my 3.7-do you use any tilt forward or backward?
I am experimenting with a slight forward tilt and like what I am hearing this eve-
Best in listening!
no tilt , but i will try it to see.
