You have a panel that is failing. Failures can manifest themselves in interesting and strange ways. It could be a stator plate is starting to come loose from the support matrix or the diaphragm is starting to slip from its mounting.
I would continue to play the speaker it will not cause any further damage.
Ultimately the popping, etc., will return and get so bad you cannot enjoy music.

I'll continue as things are for the time being.
Would it be easy to identify which panel at this point, or do I pretty much have to wait until it gets worse?
Cheers!

It sounds like the speaker is working pretty well at the moment. It will be hard to diagnose the problem until it is more continuous in behavior.
As long as the music sounds good keep using the speaker. It may work this way just fine for some time. Or it could go tomorrow.
Maybe it was presumed, but I meant to say the popping and blinking was happening WITHOUT music being played. Does this symptom change any of the diagnosis?
Cheers!

No. A panel is starting to fail.

Maybe it's a bug
I've yet to see a spark with dust covers off in the dark. And the popping/light flashing actually happening "without" music going through it, just powered on. Goes away if power unplugged for a while. Maybe a bug has crawled inside the plinth! Haven't looked there. Or do you mean I have a Peter Walker bug zapper LOL!!!
Cheers!

Mine always arced with or without music playing, just had to be turned on. Use your ear to find it, not as accurate as seeing the arc but it will get you close.
Room wasn't dark enough. Finally spotted it. Bottom panel, near the bottom edge.
Cheers!
