Follow Ups:
I've been helping a half-blind mate of mine refurbish his T-1Ds. So far, he's had:
* all 6 panels re-wired by the Oz Maggie importer
* braced stands made up for all 6 panels
* and I re-jigged the back-plate connections on the tweeter panel to allow him to passively bi-amp (so removing the tweeter fuse and the crap Magnepan wire connectors).
So now:
* the speaker wires for the tweeter come from one channel of each amp into a pair of good quality banana sockets on the back-plate, which are connected to the caps and the tweeter panel.
* the bass speaker wires come from the other channel of each amp into a pair of banana sockets and then, via the coil, to the 2 bass drivers.
* so the bass drivers are now individually wired to banana sockets on the tweeter back-plate ... doing away with those crap, stock inter-panel connectors.
Because his room is not very wide, he has the T-1Ds arranged with the tweeter panels on the inside - with the outer bass panels (the ones tuned to a lower range) butted up against the side walls. He sits about 9' back from the arc of panels.
Yes, the T-1Ds would undoubtedly sound better in a bigger room ... but they still sound sensational in his room! :-)) (Better, IMO, than the pair of 20.7s we both heard last weekend ... which sounded muddy and congested - probably because the AVM power amp driving the 20.7s was also being used to drive a pair of DWMs and was running out of steam.)
Enjoy your renovated T-1Ds! :-))

How wide of a room would you think is the min for T1D's? Thinking about building a room off of living room just for stereo, it would be about 16ft wide and 18ft deep... well maybe a HT room with them, have pair of 12QR's I could use for the back. Would just have to find a good center speaker. I picked them up as I couldn't stand to listen to a "box" speaker anymore.

My mate's room is only 12 1/2' wide - so your 16' wide room will be terrific! :-))
But better, I suggest, if you can arrange the Tymps against the long wall - with the tweeter panels out.
Regards,
Andy
I could set up the room anyway I want, if they would be better on the long wall I could put glass on the one wall so wifey could see flower bed ( and I wouldn't have to move it). But being able to use both would be nice to be able to "play".. I just started looking into room construction and trying to figure out how to get elec to it. House construction here is really different from what I am use to. Some of it wouldn't get past inspectors where I came from. I can get 40AMP 220V to the room which I hope will be enough. One amp wants it's own 20AMP 110V line, and haven't looked into total of all the "toys".....
Anyway, ordered minidsp, mic, downloaded REW this afternoon. Going to be interesting weekend.

Good luck with the tinkering.
That is only a bit smaller than my 17X19/20 room which is very flexible for the T IV even with bookcases on most walls.
