Well initially I thought I was going to be able to float the floor but the area is too big. So the glue apparently works as both a moisture barrier as well as a binding agent to the floor. Probably better for sound.
I did have a cherry floor put in a long time ago and we went on vacation!! But the smell of the finish was indeed strong. I think we did leave for a couple more. I am hoping this glue product is not as bad. It is called Bostic I believe

The normal mastic used is not bad at all. We've had no issues with it. That epoxy sealer is a whole nuther story though. Engineered flooring is much better with respect to its response to moisture than solid flooring anyway and very probably you can get away without a sealer. I understand the additional expense of using a liquid leveler, but if you can manage it I highly recco that you do. You'll get a much better finished job all the way around. The hollow sounds you get from walking on the flooring laid over divots and low spots I find really annoying, and that feeling of "give" when you step on one of those spots I also find more than a little disconcerting.
Amazingly enough Sondek - the floor appears to be amazingly level. It looks like a new poured concrete floor. But as you know, you don't realize you have imperfections until you run into them!!
