The wires are only on the front of the Mylar. Behind the Mylar are magnet strips which are stuck to the perforated metal that you see from the rear. If one of those came loose in shipment so that it was too close to the diaphragm, that could presumably cause buzzing -- but it's probably something that Magnepan would have to fix since you can't get to it.

Thanks for all the advice, I am slowly learning more about this process. The speaker are older, not sure of the vintage. I will try to contact Magnepan tomorrow and see if they can walk me through the diagnostics.
Has anyone seen a good video online about the repair process, i have seen a couple but they were badly done.
