Return to Planar Speaker Asylum

Wendell sent this along, it's a good description of the effect of the Tri-Center setup. One of the sad things about audio is that once you hear an improvement, you're never satisfied with what you have! And I can't listen to two-channel anymore without being aware of the tenuous nature of the phantom image.
There's also an interesting review of the 20.7's at Audio Research's listening room. He says it was some of the best sound he's ever heard and I can believe it, what with all of that diffusion and the speakers out from the front wall like that. This guy obviously knows how to position speakers!

"Audiophiles don't use equipment to listen to music,
Audiophiles uses music to listen to their equipment".
Isn't it? I bet it sounds great with two channel dipoles, lots of diffusion and not much absorption (except in the bass, if those are tube traps in the corners).
ARC and Magnepan have partnered together for decades. All those systems seemed quite nice!
I still have relatives in Wisconsin, where I'm from, went to school for 6 years at the U. of Minn., and worked in the Twin Cities for 2 years. One of these days I'll take an extended trip to see the relatives and visit Audio Research and Magnepan. After all, I have equipment from both in my system!
Regards,
Steve
