Thanks for your input. I'm opting for the digital because it opens up more choices for input.
As for the Jl subs will try it out and see how it matches.

That is the way I would go to...if I was to downsize that one would be the integrated to try on the top of my list...are you buying new or used? I do see quite a few come up on Audiogon, but not too many of the digital version...
I have heard allot of great things about the JL Audio subs...IMHO...it just needs to be really fast...that Maggie bass is soooo tight and fast...
I was impressed on how low the 1.7i's go...really surprised me...
Thanks
Mark
At THE show in Irvine this year (formerly Newport), there was a room with Magnepan .7's and 2 high-end JL Audio subwoofers with electronic crossovers (maybe some DSP?).
It was one of the very best in the place---the integration and texture was stunningly good. Clearly they spent effort on setup, but it certainly shows that Maggies and good subwooferage can be combined very well.
I'm buying new (pretty pricey around $6,600+) 'cause I don't think I can find used here.
I hope the subs will pair nicely with them. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I am a used or demo guy...just plain cheap you might say...85% of my rig is used...I did look on www.audiogon.com just now and no Vanguards for sale currently...
IMHO...the Vanguard would work with the 3.7i's also...I am currently running a Sanders Magtech, which is a great match for Maggies...but also a $5500 amp...CJ CT-5 Preamp...that combo used was $7500...plus more cables verses integrated...and no DAC required with the Vanguard...great value...
I posted a list of dealers if you want to ask about demo's or trade-ins...I do understand buying local and supporting your local dealer...maybe a good package price?? Or ask if he has a demo Vanguard Digital...
Maggies most of the time go for MSRP not allot of room for dealers to discount...but at full retail they are still a great value...
I do think you subs will be fine....
Thanks
Mark
