Any way to torture the crossover into producing a 6db/octave slope?
I would LOVE to duplicate as closly as possible the crosover now in my 1.6s
12db low pass and 6db high pass crossing at 600hz. The 'knee' frequency is apparently lower for the low pass and higher for the high pass.

Yes - it's easy!
PM me so we can start an email conversation. (I already have the stock 1.6 XO modelled in lspCAD. I even have a spare P09 board or two!! :-)) )

Some ways of doing it: http://www.integracoustics.com/MUG/MUG/tweaks/davey/mg1.6xo.htm
No need for an active leg for the high pass section. In most power amplifiers there is already a capacitor in the input stage for high pass filtering. You can replace that capacitor with a smaller/suitable value.
The PLLXO is my 'default' idea. I believe my preamp will drive the 6 feet or so of cable to the crossover which would be located AT each amp behind the speaker. Maybe 18" cables from Cross-2-Amp. I should be able to live with the insertion loss.
I've got a couple ALTOIDS tins which will make fine 'cases' for the crossovers.
Preamp is essentially 100ohms OUTPUT impedance while the amp claims 33kohms INPUT.
Maybe the Decimated Radio Shack stores near me will have a project circuit board, but I WILL send away for other parts.
And a new Hakko iron.
