Return to Planar Speaker Asylum
199.38.154.10
Hi,
As I noted in a different post, I'm going to try the tri-center concept Wendell likes. He suggested I use the MC1s and CC3 I currently have to try it out. Those speakers will be headed to the basement once it's finished. So while it won't totally duplicate what a CCR and MMC2 combo might get me, it's a quick way to test.
Which leads me to the mains. Due to forces outside my control, I'm going to be using MMC2s as mains. I already have a rythmik f12 so the question is, do I need a DWM for each channel or as a dealer recommended, just use the sub for the lower depths the MMC2 can't quite hit. I have decided to add mono-blocks for the mains as my Anthem 710 receiver (which I'll also be using for pre-amp) will be driving the tri.
No dealer I spoke to has a lot of experience with the on the wall speakers (which I totally understand) so I'm hoping someone who has these or has heard these with and without the DWM might be able to assist.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Alan

as Mains and they too can also be wall mounted...
IMHO...the MMG's are a better fit and a better speaker than the MMC2's...
Just my $.02
Thanks

thanks. I'll look into that.
I have a Rhythmik sub and two DWMs with my three series Maggies. The DWMS and the sub complement each other and pretty much play different frequencies.
I set my sub at 50 or less. I am very reluctant to set the XO above this as it starts to interfere with the music (indeed I often set it much lower than 50). The DWMs pretty much work above 80 or so, with a tiny bit of help down to 63. DWMs are bass panels, and substantially add to the bass. The subs add very little emphasis to drums or bass, they just add the weight and move the tactile air below the bass.
Hope this helps.
That helps a lot. I think I'm going to have to try with and without the dwms. My dealer feels the dwm is thin sounding but we all have our own tastes.
