Good deal on these once MMG rivals.
Obviously the usual caveats will apply.

If anyone is looking to buy these then consider the cost of replacing the woofer surrounds.
The mid/tweeter usually survives normal use without a problem. It is foil on mylar so has no delam issues. There are corrosion issues with bad storage conditions and flooding damage.
If the woofers had foam surrounds that might be an issue. But these are Vifa poly-cone woofers with synthetic rubber surrounds. More than likely they'll still be fine after twenty years.
Regardless, Apogee users who have these hybrid speakers with dented/damaged cones usually chose to change out the woofer drivers with more contemporary drivers that have superior characteristics.
Dave.
I had rubber and even fabric surrounds go bad. Though not as catastrophically bad as foam surrounds.
Do you recall what material they used for the surrounds?
I don't know the exact rubber formulation, but I have constructed a number of different speakers with Vifa drivers of the same vintage. The surrounds on every one of them still look fine.I do live in a moderate climate with limited humidity and temperature changes. That certainly helps.
Regardless, this particular set of Apogee speakers should be evaluated on its own. I would be surprised if it needs surround repairs to the woofer drivers....assuming the speakers saw normal usage and weren't used for pool parties.
Dave.

Are these as easy to repair as maggies are far as delamination goes? They appear to have ribbons is that true?
What is the delamination you speak of? I have T1Ds with dead middle panel.
May He Who Watches Over Us All, Watch Over You And Yours.
"Delamination" is when the glue that holds the magnet wire on the panels degrades to the point that the wires become loose. This causes buzzing sounds from the wire vibrating against the mylar.
With your Tympanis, it sounds like the issue is corrosion of the magnet wire, causing an open circuit. I agree with Andy's advice above, that this is a job best left to the factory- unless you are very DIY orientated, and have a lot of patience.
You can always remove some of the fabric and look to see what's going on under there.
Best,
Cory
Ribbon with cone woofer.
No delamination issues but may suffer from dried out foam surrounding the cone of the woofer.
The one who succeeded was the one who didn't know it was impossible.
