Awesome! It is really mind boggling that a speaker that's probably 30 years old, that you paid so little for delivers that kind of performance. A real testament to Acoustat and the basic design and how well they've held up over the decades. The really amazing thing is that they will probably play on and on for decades more. Glad we didn't steer you wrong. I know I am happy as hell with mine too.

They are an amazing set of designs for performance, upgradeablility and longevity. I still can't comprehend how it is they are no longer in business.
I have seen any number of companies over the decades that have a great product and are profitable. But they don't focus on the business fundamentals and find themselves out of business. Small companies are especially prone to this sort of thing. An owner that loves his product, loves what they do but has no desire to focus on the business side of the equation.
The Acoustat is a fine speaker but certainly had some significant issues. The last generation of the speakers largely addressed these issues. My guess is it was a lack of good solid business practice that ultimately brought them down.
This list of companies in high end audio that fail because of poor business practice is unfortunately quite long.
