I am looking to setup my 1D's in a 15 by 15 room. Any suggestions as to placement? I don't understand what the 1/4 wavelength or that stuff means... I use to just move them around till they sounded right..... The room is square but the ceiling goes from 8ft behind them to 12ft behind the listening area. It's all hard surface, hardwood floors so I expect to have to do some "conditioning" of the room.

The way to setup a Tympani speaker in a square room is in an equidistant arc where all the panels are aimed at the listening seat. The tweeter panel is inside and the bass panel is 1-2ft or so away from the sidewalls. The tweeter should be 4ft or more from the front wall. Seating should be 3-4 ft from the back wall - could require a longer distance if the back wall is very reflective. Less so if it is very diffusive or absorptive.
I would not try a Limage type setup with the T I-D since the bass panels cover well into the midrange so would have very fuzzy imaging in that setup as they will never time align with the tweeter.
.
Thanks for the info/help.

I recently placed mine the distance of the stand away from the back wall. That did lower the amount of bass some and seemed to tighten things up as well. I am only using the two bass panels however with some modified IIIa's, so I am not sure that is appropriate for you. So far this seems to work well for me as I have a limited space to move things in but my room is close to the same dimensions you have.. mine is 14.6' or so by about 14' just about square. They do suffer from imaging issues but there is a lot that I am going to be implementing to correct this...time alignment for one. I think with the combination I will have which is a modified DCX2496 and some room correction, that I will improve, if not perfect the imaging issue.
