They are black hex head screws (maybe 8 or so) recessed into the trim pieces. I thought they looked good. Next time I am in there I will take a picture.

I am not sure if what you are say is correct. On the 1.7's they can be pried out with with a screw drive or a flat knife and gently hammered into a "groove." No screws. I had tried the Black alum and the cherry wood. It was easy to do. I could not hear the slightest change in sound between wood or Alum. I preferred lean look of the latter. Hope I have not misinformed.
That could well be true. I didn't do anything but observe them. They look like hex head screws, didn't occur to me they were anything different. Wasn't trying to give false info just what I saw. I will be back there in the next couple days and take a closer look. You would think they are the same as the 1.7s. House of stereo has both so I'll be able to compare.
