D_B, I meant to thank you for the heads up even if I already knew anyway at the time. I certainly would have been bidding if the model had been as old as mine.
I was watching this one and thought it was a great deal as well.
I waited until it ended since I wasn't sure if it break any rules.
So was I, when it was first posted. I had hoped that these were like my current MMGs (1999 vintage).
The frontal pictures did not show anything about the drivers, which are different from later MMGs but the rear pictures suggested that the old 1st/2nd order xover was in. So, I asked the vendor to count the tweeter traces for me, which he did promptly. Bummer, 8 traces, like current MMGs. Mine have 6 traces, which seem to make them more nimble...and allow for a slightly larger mid/bass driver area also.
I do remember reading that Magnepan mixed parts during the transition from the old to the new but hoped that there were still selling some "fully old" in 2000.
Hmmm...someone may have thought something along the same lines that came to my mind. They paid $600+ for MMGs from 15 years back!
