Kinda all of the above :-)) You sure are focused on your good strong bass...but, to the enjoyment of your whole neighborhood? LOL!
Yeah, the Velo was never intended for music at home but despite being a slotted 10" in an apartment, it did do a few decent spaceships and footfalls ...without enraging the neighbors....much. I may miss it on this count.
Surprisingly, the first sealed box has done generally well for movies. I am hoping that the additional woofer will play along to make movies match what the Velo did alone. However, they will have to do this without sacrificing an inch of their real mission (music). I can always add a subwoofer for movies later. Or...I'll read this thread all over...perhaps 2500 watts/ch will do? [Extra Extra, lynching of audio-nut in Florida condo complex!]
Follow Ups:
Actually, the basement listening room is perfect since it does allow you to play as loud as you want to without an effect outside. You can barely hear a thing even in the bedrooms on the second floor. On the other hand the Vandys on the first floor with the windows open carried for two city blocks and elicited angry banging from my neighbor in the townhouse..
A basement, what a great idea! Oh, wait. We dig down a couple of inches and we hit the water table here in South Florida. Lucky you!Long long ago, when I was in high school (a music school) I built my first stereo and played it loud with the bedroom windows open. One day my father offered that I could move to the basement and have it all to myself. So, I did.
In one of the strangest discoveries of my life, I then heard from our closest neighbor. They lived at least 200ft away. He said that he missed my music since I moved to the basement. As it turned out, he liked the classical music I played -- more so my Carmina Burana LP -- and a few of my Mantovani records, plus Burt Bacharach and also Herp Albert & Tijuana Brass.
Oh, my (now "music-less") neighbor...I helped him buy a good audio system. Then he got for free some HUGE leftover monitor speakers from a recording studio that closed down. These speakers delivered the first ever TRULY LOW bass I ever heard. You would have loved the experience. I certainly did.
