Thanks for the suggestions. Both got me looking on Amazon, where I came across the following copper foil tape with conductive adhesive:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UZ8SJK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_6?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A23VKRUGUD63LA
Assuming the adhesive is really conductive (one reviewer claims otherwise), this would solve two problems - tape over the holes in the mylar AND bridge the aluminum QR foil.
Questions:
1. Has anyone used something like this on Magnepans?
2. Might a copper-aluminum joint cause corrosion problems down the line?
Follow Ups:
Why not use aluminium foil tape with conductive adhesive? http://tinyurl.com/kvu2fkg I would not go for a no-name product as the adhesive need to be good.
Thanks for the input. I found a similar 3M product on Amazon that is thinner in width and costs significantly less:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KNU938M/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
I'm not sure if the difference between 3M 1170 and 1120 is significant - 1120 seems to have an ever so slightly thicker adhesive layer and minimally lower resistance per 3M spec sheets, but the 1/4" width of the above product (1120) is very close to the width of the Magnepan QR foil.
Just to reiterate, bridging over the puncture will not be effective unless your bridge material has something conductive to attach to on each end.
