Return to Planar Speaker Asylum

Would someone be kind enough to share with me the dimensions of the actual panel of the .7 Magnepan speaker, excluding the stand? The speaker is said by spec to be 54" tall, but I assume that includes the stand. I'm looking for the measurements for the panel itself.
I am interested especially in the outer dimensions, as well as the width of the panel's face, or "frame" if you will, not the side, which is about 1". In other words, is the "frame" 3" wide, or 4" wide? etc.
Thank you!

They've started shipping, and arrived at the dealer in Minnesota Friday. I got mine Saturday.
54" with the plain L stands, the optional fancy stand will add to the height. About 15.25-15.5 wide. The frame itself from the front measures a little over an inch for the top and sides, and about 7 inches at the bottom. From the back, about 1.5 inches at the top, 2.5 at the sides and 8 at the bottom.
I'm sorry I can't evaluate their sound for a normal listener, but my hearing is pretty bad, and I've had to avoid recorded music for years. Magnepans are the only speakers I've listened to that my screwed-up ears can hear clearly, and listen to for hours without fatigue (I spent the past few weeks enjoying a pair of MG12 while waiting for the .7).
The 12 was a wonderful speaker, but the .7 right out of the box sounds better to me. Stronger upper midtones and highs, and even clearer articulation of difficult passages. I've listened to Alica Weilerstein's Elgar Cello concerto, and these .7s out of the box are providing improved clarity on the loud orchestral parts, and a more real cello sound than the 12s. Please don't read this as a knock on the MG12, it's a fantastic speaker that I'd be very happy with.
For me, these speakers with a Rega Brio-R have me listening to recorded music again for the first time in 15 years, and it's simply beautiful.
That's great, and with burn-in, prepare for them to get even better!
Forgive me for adding to this almost year-old thread, but I was quite taken with the OP's post and how Magnepans have enabled him to once again, enjoy recorded music in his home. I have apparently much less serious hearing issues, but I feel very much the same when I compare my MMG's to my former, venerable, highly-regarded- 3-Way floor-standing cone speakers, the latest iterations of which are now selling for roughly $10,000 dollars. I am absolutely convinced that the lower-priced Maggies are THEEE best value in all of speakerdom. I'm likely to be moving to the .7s as soon as I can pay for them. :)
I have no concerns about size or room placement, but thank you for concerned input by members.
xrogers, can you kindly give me the length/height of the panel itself without the stand? I assume it's about 50 inches.
It's wonderful that you can get back in the game with the Maggies! Enjoy!

The panels themselves are 54" tall, not counting stands. With the oval base, the speaker must be 59-60 inches tall.
Thanks for the good wishes!
I was uncertain as the spec on the Magnepan home page was 54", I believe, and shows the speaker with stands. My assumption was that it would be shorter sans stands. I appreciate the clarification.
I think it's wonderful that you are finding joy again in the hobby! That's what audio is all about. :)

I was just at Magnepan for business. Wendel fired up the .7's for me and I got a full tour of their facility. Awesome speakers and awesome people! They sounded great. I'm going back in a couple weeks...I'll see if I can get the dimensions for you.
Tubes are hot!
all the panels need the same distance to the front wall, so height is NOT the most important thing.
If you are concerned with the visual, that's another matter and certainly up to YOU!
My MG-1s at 65" are NOT bad, especially since I sit OVER 10 feet from each panel AND they are in black. Color may matter as to the visual impact.
Too much is never enough
This hasn't shipped to dealers yet, not even demos.
So there are no .7's in the wild. Not for another three weeks.
Call Wendall on Tuesday and he can tell you.
I wondered if the 54" was with or without the optional stand myself.

Well, quite a few people know. Everyone who attended the Magnepan room at CES saw them. I don't know if anybody had a tape measure and measured them.http://www.stereophile.com/content/magnepan-07-loudspeaker
