A few other observations:
- I haven't noticed this phenomenon in person, but in pictures the Tympani totally dwarf the 67" TV. And they are not even fully extended since the twt/mid is either sideways or out front... This obsession really is a disease.
- My wife is not happy with this setup from an aesthetic standpoint. She likes the twt/mid out front, even though it sticks out further into the room that way. As usual, she does not care how it sounds. But she still lets me keep them.
- The baby seems more attentive to the music with this setup. She too must be enamored with the soundstage depth. This is as scientific of a measurement as any, I reckon.

I saw your post a few years back and have always wanted to try it. I think I've just been too lazy until recently when I started seeing posts about placement again. It is definitely easier with a smaller speaker and overall less complicated setup.
I have done so and listening very, very well ...

Rudy,
It was actually your post that prompted me to try this setup. Very nice woodworking, by the way. That project is in the works... although my next project is another hybrid center channel idea.
My wife would have thrown me out of the house. I only liked my T-IVa flat out open tweets out. Although I did not try your arrangement. Split with mid/tweets in front, against side walls, folded back, I just lost something every way.
The 20.1 I have now get around 95% of the issues with size and placement, but still miss my T-IVa.
I VOID WARRANTIES
I hear this very often; people "upgrading" from the tympani to the 20 series and losing something. I really want a 20.7 for what is described as near perfect coherence and a smaller footprint. However, I am afraid of what I may perceive to be a loss in something else. This hobby is quite subjective.
