Thank you for the recommendations, Russ. Up until a couple of years ago I ran first my ML Aerius and then Quad 989 speakers with a tube front end (preamp and amp). Even had a ModWright/Music Hall CDP that had been converted to run with 5687s. Tubes + stats are indeed a magical combination.
Maybe someday, again...but I do find that the c-j CA200 does a credible job as well.

Follow Ups:
I was unaware of the CJ CA 200. Thanks for pointing it out. Is it actually as "tubey without tubes" as it reviews?
It isn't Premier level c-j tubes (which I've owned -- both preamp and amp) but it comes darn close. And in the ways you'd expect of solid state, superior in certain respects. Caveat: I haven't owned an ART, GAT, etc. so I can't compare directly to their more recent offerings. But stacked up next to the c-j Premier 140 even with the CJD C1 Teflon caps upgrade, it has nothing to be ashamed of.
Basically one half of the Premier 350 minus Teflon caps and some other higher level parts in the body of a Premier 18LS with a passive attenuator. Output is high so unless your speakers are very efficient, a worthy contender, especially at the price, IMHO.
