But I would not want speakers that required one-tenth inch placement tolerance. That would truly require "head in a vise" positioning for the listener, something I simply find impracticable.
If i enjoyed the music and began bobbing my head all could be lost!

I probably wasn't clear. The deal here is coupling each of the speakers together as "one" which makes them disappear. It's more about soundstage than a central image. It works for any speakers not just planers.
I think you're suffering from woolly thinking, BMW-lover. :-))
Barry has Maggies - not electroststics. Electrostatics do have "head-in-a-vice" directionality (I listened to some Sanders stats a couple of Sundays ago) but Maggies don't.
My take on what Barry posted is that, in the Maggie sweet spot (however large that may be), everything "locks into place" so much better if the panel positioning is matched.

Andy
Well Andy, first of all I was just quoting what he said. My "thinking" was simply my opinion that I would not choose that type of system.
Also, while I'll admit I have heard electrostatics with a very narrow focus point, such as Sanders and older Quads, I've owned both the original M-L CLS and currently the Janszen zA2.1 which do NOT radiate with such a narrow beam.
And my last clarification, I am not a "BMW-lover". This is an audio/music related site and my moniker references favored jazz artists.
So there! (But still regards in return) ;^)
