just his way of saying 'nunyun'.I can see where a person (or group of persons) who devote their entire lives creating a product, obtaining patents, fighting in courts over the years, failed marriages (not saying in this case) may NOT be so forthcoming in giving out technical data/information over the phone to a complete stranger.
Some companies have no problem giving out that kind of info, some -and I suspect 'most' would rather not. Nothing personal I'm sure.
I have no affiliation with any audio company...Just my take.

I just asked he about a product I purchased that his company developed. A question about its workings not trying to steal their patent.Nothing I can`t readily find out with a removal of the sock .
Indirectly (at least) you appear to have asked Mr. Diller to 'spill the beans'. If I were in his place, and with some beans to spill, I'd behave as he did. Moreover, it seems to me that was the only ethical thing for him to do.
As long as you are game to open your speakers, you might want to consider buying an inexpensive LCR meter (I bought a DM4070 from ebay for ~$30) so you can measure the capacitance and inductance of the components. They are not always marked, especially the inductor. The meter will come in handy when you rebuild the crossover as matching left and right components will be advantageous.
Thanks, I do have a capacitance and inductace meter. I did sneak another peak behind fuse panel and see an Erse 12 uf 250 volt film cap.
I suspect most (again not all) designers play their cards close to their chest; the nature of the beast so to speak -even though we'll all eventually see their hand at the end of the game,Sort of like asking a chef to come out of the back and asking how much paprika is used (ok I admit a bad analogy), or asking a person how much money they earn (even if the information is public knowledge).
Again, don't take it personal, there is really nothing to debate IMO.
