Return to Planar Speaker Asylum

Pretty simple question. Loft system, the area behind the camera position is open to the master bedroom below. The speakers pictured are 38" high so the MG12 would fit in exactly the same position. They will be powered with an Adcom GFA-5500. THanks!

What are the dimensions of the triangle? From that I can work angles AND make at least first pass setup in Google Sketchup.
I'd URGE you to do the same so you can actually SEE what you are proposing and not asking for our Guestimates.
Too much is never enough
I have MMGs in a small room and have them three feet from the front wall with great results. I'll bet your room sounds pretty good with almost no parallel walls. The best sounding room I've ever had was in the upper level of a cape cod style house. If you need to you can always place some acoustic treatment on the walls directly behind the speakers as I've done. If you go with the MG12s you can also place them with the tweeters on the outside to maintain sound stage width. Personally I'd wait until the .7s come out.

.7s??
Yes, Magnepan will be releasing the replacement to the MG12 soon. They say they are shooting for December. It's called the .7 and will be a smaller version of the 1.7 with full quasi ribbon drivers. I plan on ordering a pair as soon as they are available.

Hi. Sean;
Check the link. The overall height of the MG12 is 51 inches.
Take care....old guy
Yikes, I'm not sure where I was coming up with the other numbers. MMGs or Super MMGs would be my only option then...
Hi. Sean;
The MMG models are 48 inches in height.
Check the link for the Minis.
Yep, I saw that. The photo is deceptive, there's room above the outside corner of the current speakers. I've also discovered a typo that may be confusing the issue, the current speakers are 3'8" tall, not 38". So the MMGs are only 4" taller than what I currently have.
With remeasuring the MG12 will fit exactly where the current speakers are but there would only be about 3" from the top outside corner and the wall/ceiling.
I think they would work but you have to get them out in the room, 6 feet is very good but 4 feet will work.
Yes, you need to put them forward. Also maybe a bit closer to each other.
Due to space restrictions I have my MG12's about 3 feet from the wall.
You need the space because of the reflection (as much sound coming from the front as the rear)
It might work if you put them where the camera is, back to open space.
Interesting but not possible due to ingress/egress into the room. There is a partial half wall right behind the listening position that might cause problems with that positioning as well. The front of the speakers in the photo are 42" from the back wall with room to be 60" from the back wall. Is that not sufficient?
