Return to Planar Speaker Asylum

Hi Folks
further to my post below about problems with the pair I bought on eBay:
The speaker that makes a noise like a machine gun. Its red light stays on-is that right?I thought they were supposed to blink.
I am starting to wonder if the seller (the widow of an audiophile) was playing them without power connected
Follow Ups:
Yes, there is the power light which remains on.
Also, if you remove the little plastic cap as shown in the picture, you will see within a light that blinks. You might have to turn the room lights down/off to see it. Duration between blinks varies from speaker to speaker.
I'm not sure the standard, but I believe it is related to humidity and a health indicator.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but at least it's a start.
Cheers!
Jonesy

The red lights on my ESL-63 do not blink. When switched on, the lights stays on. When I switch off, the lights fades out in a couple seconds. They do not blink.
Do you anticipate restoring the Quads yourself or sending them to Kent to have them fixed?
George
