I bought used since I could get far more speaker for the money. I got a Tympani for the cost of an MG1.6.
I was going to modify the speaker anyway, so no point in getting a new one.
The Tympani model is unique in the maggie lineup in having the bass units separate from the rest of the speaker so you can time align and avoid IMD from bass going into mids and treble. They don't make them anymore.

I bought three different Tympani models; 1C, IIIB and IV-A, all new and while they were still in manufacture. Also a MMG directly from Magnepan, of course. (I also had the 1Cs rebuilt by Magnepan, goodie goodie for me, right? Am I therefore entitled to a discount on an additional another purchase?)
OFF TOPIC Norm are you a member of any local audio clubs?
I'm a little too old to partake in 'clubs'. :-((
Never listening to them (because to my ears, they 'suck'), I neglected to include the 3.6, also bought new.
Which are you not listening to?
I don't believe your prior purchases make the cost of making and marketing a new set any lower. So no discount..
"Which are you not listening to?"
My serious listening goes to the Tympani IV-A.

I was thinking of perhaps the benefits offered through frequent flyer mile programs. Frequent flying doesn't lower the cost of operating an aircraft. :-)
