thanks davey! this unit looks simple and in line, so to speak, for my needs. i hate putting yet an other device, etc., in the chain, but i listen to a fair share of triphop/idm and the like, and it looks like subs are going to be required for the beats

It really is a terrific device. It's too bad they don't make them anymore. However, you can still find them for sale.
Cheers,
Dave.
Hi M.. hi guys. I have the SMGa's and also the MG1's and seem to be muddying up the bass and popping fuses under higher loads(Carver and Adcom bi-amp setup).
Is there a comparable unit to the one Davey mentions above which can be used for a bi-amp/4 speaker setup?
When you say "biamp" are you referring to biamping bass/tweeter on the speaker or are you talking about separate amps for the subwoofer and main speaker? This topic came up a few months ago. Usually biamping refers to using two amps for a single speaker -- this cannot be done with the SMGa because it uses a serial XO.
Oh.. and BTW, M.. you will love the clarity of the Maggies! Some of the best speakers I've ever owned and highly recommended.
well heck grobert, nice to hear from you. i hope they (smga)arrive in one piece...i'm going to end up porting my existing subs. fingers crossed...
Yeah.. small world bud and as they say.. timing is everything.
If they're being shipped in the original packaging?.. you should be ok short of an overweight package falling midway on the box. Then again.. I used to work at UPS many years ago and there are tons of hung-over college kids and 2-3 job guys and gals working there. I have many horror stories.. but I don't want to freak you out by telling them until your package gets there safely. ;-)
Later bud.
alright, i 'won' an nht x1 tonight. davey, again, thanks for this suggestion.
You won't be disappointed with that unit. Also, all the schematics are available and it's easily modifiable. Should you so chose in the future.
Dave.
