Its a dipole sub and at least on woot is pretty cheap. Does anyone think it will blend with a maggie well for the lower octaves?
The built in speaker level crossover is nice but is only fixed at 80hz and is a first order only.
The size is small enough that it would sit nicely behind the maggie panel and is cheap enough to consider getting two at $250ea

I don't know if this will help, but I have a Pinnacle Subsonic mated with a pair of MMG-W's and it blends really well with a crossover setting on my receiver set to 80HZ.
I had the "SubSonic" for a while.
Slightly smaller, but amazing for what it was. Very fast and coherent bass.
I used it with Rega Ela II's (transmission line) and Acoustat X's strictly for 2-channel music listening. Worked better with the Rega's but it wasn't a horrible match for the electrostats.
Eventually sold it because I modded the Acoustat servo amps and placed the speakers better. It was no longer needed. And, I think my ears have outgrown augmented bass.
It is not a dipole but a bipole. Meaning that the backwave is the same polarity as the front wave and they don't cancel at the midway on the sides.
It will not sound anything like a dipole H frame or W frame sub. That does not mean it will sound bad.
I would say that if you want one, get two. The magnets are a bit small for a sub (I got a 160oz magnet on the 10" sub drivers I got) so 4 drivers in 2 cabs will actually have a chance to do the job.
thanks satie for your thoughtful analysis. I guess I will pass on this "deal". I was looking for another two subs to add to my existing HSU TN1220 tubes. Something that could be connected at speaker level with my magnepan 1.6's.
However it looks like the pinnacle drivers used in the bipole cubes would not keep up with what I am getting from my HSU monsters.
The HSU TN is a great sub, hard to "enhance" it. Use 2 for more bass output. A true bottom octave sub.
