Owned Wilson Watt Puppie 3's for 10 years and Maggie 3.6's for 1-1/2 years.
The Maggies simply sound more like live music than the Wilson's. The Watt Puppies were a wonderful sounding speaker with great sound staging and a very balanced sound top to bottom but lacked the stunning realism and presence of the Maggies. I have heard the latest Sashas and still like my Maggies much better. The Wilsons are more efficient than the Maggies for what it's worth

The local Wilson dealer had Apogees and Martin Logans to compare to and now has maggies. I had not had a chance to do a comparison there recently, but I did do an indirect comparison when I first set up my Tympani IV. I can say that for bass wallop and tuning, the Wilson had the upper hand against all the maggies and Apogees but for the mini grand and the big apogee. In all other regards the planars walked all over the Wilsons. They were realistic and had the right scale and sense of realism compared to the balcony seat perspective of the WATT/Pups. Detail resolution was superior on all the planars, and at high volume the Apogees kept their composure better than the Wilsons did - though the Martin Logans fell apart on peaks. While the original Tympani midrange did have its limits relative to the Apogees in clarity and lack of distortion at high volume, and was not nearly as resolving as the stats, it was definitely better than the Wilsons. The Neo8 line array I use for a midrange in my Tympanis today does a better midrange than any of those but for the stats at low volume and the Big Apogees at high volume.
