A friend of a friend died last week. He was a retired teacher who never married. He was a veteran of WWII, spoke and taught fluent German and French and also taught choral music. He greatest enjoyment was listening to music which he did up to his final days. His main concern was finding someone who would value his record collection as much as he did.
Today I went to his apartment to pick up his records, almost all classical and opera. I virtually filled up the car. A large percent are boxed sets (mostly Time-Life series but major labels as well) which, from an audiophile's perspective may not be of great value, but from a music lover's perspective, an incredible collection. It will take me a couple of weeks just to sort and catalog, and well over a year to listen to everything. Amazingly in a quick scan there are very few duplicates of what I already own. The stuff on the floor is new. There are also about 50 CD's as well. Happy days ahead.

NEAT! Nothing like seeing good music NOT go to waste.
Besides, now you may get a decent music education after all. Lolita must have already told you that there's more to life than repeating the same Herp Albert LPs day after day. LOL!
Lolita's favorite is "Who Let the Dogs Out". Conchita prefers the "How Much is that Doggie in the Window"
So far I found a total of 34 Bach Canata's, a RCA Victrola release of the 4 Brahms' Symphonies by Toscanini, Nathan Milstein's recording of the Bach Unaccompanied Violin Partitas and Sonatas, the complete Ring Cycle (although I am not a fan of Wagner) and some Barry Manilow (go figure).
The recordings that I have listen to already are in prisitine condition.

Looking good! Barry's LPs I used to like back in the day. Shortly after I lost the tubes equipment & LP collection in a move over 20 years ago, I gave up on CDs...ergo, recorded music altogether.
I rememeber getting some CD versions of Barry's previous releases. I had expected that CD had only damaged classical music. No so. The damage was univeral. Even a MoFi release of Earl Klugh's Finger Paintings, which I had high hopes for, was a dud.

Many thanks! I don't have LP playback anymore.
Now, if you happened to have Sheffield's Erich Leinsdorf – Excerpts From Ballet Romeo And Juliet original on LP, and "not like it" , I'd go steal a friend's turntable. LOL!
