I finished the smga rebuild .I spoke with you a while back .i replaced Mylar and rewire. You told me when and if i finish to contact you for Cross-over plan.Is it the same as MAgnepan's? I already bought 2 47mf jantzen cross-caps..I m going to get a .81 mh coils.OR is there something else you recommend.I have 40 hours on them already. The caps are starting to sound real good.At first it was horrible. All midrange. But now the capacitors are evening up. What do you think of those caps?
If you send my schematics. Please send picture of wiring also.I took electronics in H.S.thats about it.
I have more pics at

you can also e,mail me there.
Thank you ki8ndly for your help.

I am glad your repair went well but since they are already SMGa's you should not be changing anything, only upgrading the parts with the same values and it appears you did not do that.
The cap value has to be 50 uF (I use two 22 uF obbligatos and a 6 uF dynamicap) and the inductor has to be a 12 gauge 78 mH alpha core (buy it from sonic craft, he'll wind it down for you)
As far as wiring it's just like it was originally. If however you need a reminder then email me and I'll send a schematic for it.

I have the Schematics. But what would be better if possible.can you send me Pictures of the wiring in the box with the components.and the wiring to and form the drivers.I dont understand how the fuse/res.is in seriesbetween the woofer and the tweeter. If there is only 3 wires.how can the fuse work if the woofer and tweeter share a terminal?i would appreciate the clarification. Those inductor are 40 dollars each. And i already bought a 47uf caps.i know i can parallel a 3uf cap.but if i go with a 81mh coil that will compensate the difference for the caps.Instead of a x-over point at 800hz.i would have a x-over point at 740hz.Do you think that would really make that great of a difference. The roll-off and slope would be the same just at a lower freq.I dont think that would possible to know the difference.unless you are analyzing it with equipment .Or am I totally wrong.I'm wet behind the ear with this stuff.
Im using a mc2105 for the mags. What do u power them with?i was thinking of getting a amp of ebay. What would u reccomend?I wish I could have used my Mark IV dynacos.but with my Denon (POS)avr3803 it is not enough power. Also I think my amp only run 8 ohms It was totally upgraded.
I was think of a B&K or Parasound what do you think
?
Also is the stages of breaking in a new capacitors that dramatic in the sound? At first it sounded great, then 5 hours later the mids just got over-whelmingly annoying. And no highs.40 hours later the mids are settling and the high range has increased dramatically.More clarity is setting in .A little loss in imaging now.Whats next.Is this normal ?Are the changes thay dramatic? Is it going to do the same when I change the coils.I never did this before .I don't too much about it.if I did not read about the conditioning of the components.I would have been upset at the results in the beginning and never have known you need to break them in.
I don't have pics or time to take them, sorry. You'll have to learn the hard way.
I don't know what to tell you about the parts. The correct values are the correct values. How "different" it will sound using incorrect values I cannot say. It certainly won't be right but how wrong it will be I couldn't guess.
Cap break in can take 300 hours or more, and yes you can get wild swings even in the same session. The only answer is to keep playing them. Inductors are not nearly as bad as caps about break in but I have heard the odd moments can sometimes be attributed to them.
As far as amps go it depends on your budget. Get the most current you can get for your dollar and you should be OK. There are so many options, just do a search here and read some of the posts to see what people like.
