OK, well if that's the case.
Don't change it but make it better without increasing the cost.
Happy now?
.
.
However, this has been a fascinating "conversation" IMO. :-)) I never fail to be amazed by folk who cannot bear to be explicit ... who hoard information because, to them, knowledge is power ! So extracting information from them is like extracting teeth! LOL!!

Andy
Only quality insults are allowed here.
You must check where the poster is from. If they are from east of the Mississippi and south of the Mason Dixon line, like this guy, you must use the term "Johnny Reb" instead.
Calling him a yanqui is like him calling you a dumb kiwi bastard. Everybody knows you're not a kiwi.
:^ )
It's all about the music...
Andy used the Yanqui "hispanic" spelling, used for all gringos north of the Alamo and/or the Rio Grande.
Also, his being a citizen of the realm, even "Yankee" can be construed as any inhabitent from sea to shining sea near the amber waves of grain.
;D
Actually, wrt " dumb kiwi bastard " ... the middle word by itself is sufficient (it implies the other two! :-)) ).
Regards from godzown,
Andy
I think you're pretty close to the Mason Dixon line at this point yourself, Peter.
:-)
As it is I'm almost 2 hours away from Maryland which was a border state which did not secede. I'm a lot further from Vir'ginny so that makes me a confirmed blue coat.
Further proof:
I have no appliances on my front porch.
There is not a car on cinder blocks in my yard.
My screen door does not have tape on it.
I don't even own a screen door.
I don't know any of my relatives "intimately".
I still am not sure exactly what "grits" are,
nor have I ever eaten them.
Now Redwood on the other hand.... he might say yes to a few of those....
:^ )
It's all about the music...
You neeed to try grits.
They are basically cornmeal and butter.
Right tasty with some greens and hog parts.
We can get liqoured up after supper and either shoot beer bottles offen the back fence with our .45s or go cruising for pussy.
Or we could just listen to tunes.
But grits is an option, putting cheese in them is popular.
... but I already own 2 cats.
It's all about the music...

Not at all, I thought I said it well when I said that WD wasn't likely in a position to make product better and cheaper than he does. To say that I'd LIKE him to almost goes without saying.
By the way, the term Yanqui is inexact. I'm actually a Virginian.
:-)
Virginian, Schmerginian ... !! :-)) I use the term "Yanqui" when I want to wind you people up!
I would love it if someone from Magnepan actively contributed to the Planar Asylum but it would seem, unfortunately, the folk who make the speakers we love ... aren't interested in establishing the kind of rapport that, say, Linn have established with their TT customer base.
Regards,
Andy
Yes, I agree. But if they don't have the time it's understandable, I'd rather they concentrate on doing the best job they can with manufacturing.
Obviously their product line is successful. I'm not a marketing genius but I am smart enough to know not to try to fix something that isn't broken.
Yes, their product line has been successful - and they are a) still in business and b) will repair/refurbish 30-yr old models. Which is exemplary! :-))But Magnepan have never in the past contributed to the Planar Asylum - so why the contact now? Could it be that the GFC has affected their sales more than they would like and would've believed? So they come to us Planar inmates - as we are an identified, pro-Magnepan user base - to seek information which might help them survive?
But that's simply "taking" ... surely if they "gave" (ie. answers to us) as well, they'd receive better information?
Regards,
Andy
PS: And BTW - who's Mr Phelps? The guy wot offers Tom Cruise the assignments he can choose (or not - yeah, right! :-)) ) to accept?

The totality of the 'membership' at the PA represent such a miniscule fraction of Magneplanar + potential Magneplanar owners that we aren't worth their time and bother.
Well.we're an identified group. Certainly familiar with the speakers.
Not so unified on opinion, though, I'd say we have some diverse viewpoints. What Magnepan will get as opposed to what the owners will say is not exactly the same thing.
This is good, maybe I get a different result from Andy but it isn't any less valid because our methodologies are similar.
It's more important that the company makes it the same way every time and thus create a reference. That way we can discuss this with a common frame and not talk at cross purposes.
.
Mr. Phelps was the new Mr. Harris, but you knew that, Number 6.
I'm not prepared to speculate as to why Magnepan might want our opinion, it seems to me that people here are going to give it regardless of whether or not it's solicited!
