Lest we forget the Remote Controlled Guided NAAFI and the Dreaded Lurgi, two the the most horrendous horrors ever unleashed upon Mankind!I've got a few of the Best Of LPs, as well as some of the official BBC transcription disks which were sent to the local radio station for rebroadcast. All brilliant stuff...

Follow Ups:
Back in the 1970's one of my colleagues had a cousin who worked for the SABC (SA Broadcasting Corporation) and he had access to their library of BBC transcription recordings of the Goon Shows. The two of must have recorded almost 130 of the 150+ shows on R2R.Then we were burgled! The tape deck and my Goon tapes were taken.
Over the years, I've managed to re-build a small collection on cassette (off-air) and some on CD (purchased). I also have a fairly extensive collection of books of, by and about the Goons.
Sadly, they're now all gone...
I regularly dig them out (books, not the Goons themselves) and re-read all or parts - particularly Milligan's WW2 sequence and the scripts...
What I have started to collect is Peter Sellers on DVD... So far have:
a. The Party ("Birdie num num")
b. What's New Pussycat? (I've hated you since I first married you!")
c. Dr Strangelove ("You can't fight in here - this is the War Room")
d. The 6xDVD Peter Sellers "Pink Panther Collection"
is never so much so as when the Goonies get going.Jolly rum thing losing your Goonie collection - there was no doubt some incredibly valuable stuff in there. I understand that there were some shows recorded strictly for the "colonies". I'll have to match my collection of transcripts up against the lists on the official sites.
You've reminded me that I really should get my mitts on Spike Milligan's works. My brother was/is a WWII fanatic, probably knows enough to teach at college level, and he particularly enjoyed Spike's war books. They do show how the troops managed to laugh through the madness so as not to succumb themselves.
Of course, later Spike himself partially lost it, but there you go.
Those disgusting young soldiers!Thwack, no it still hasn't gone down, Thwack!
etc.
