Anyone else see the well-meaning folks who want to do away with disease AND Global Warming being conflicted?
Follow Ups:
........... to eradicating the mosquito is welcome to the West Nile virus carrying Culex mosquitos that make venturing out into my backyard at dusk a life or death proposition.
Let me know where you live and I'll be glad to send you a swarm of 'em ;-)

The Dalai Lama in an interview said something to affect that all life is sacred, but admitted he did have a problem with mosquitoes.
one vote for each animal in the kingdom.
Which would you like eradicated: man or mosquito.
I think the results would be no-contest.
are not an important part of the food chain? We've incorrectly assumed many things over the years, to our detriment.

I was thinking along similar lines.
IF we managed to eradicate all Mosquitos, what would take their place? Maybe something Worse?
Too much is never enough
There is no such thing as "global warming" in the sense, of concept, being molested by the Media (the left as well).
That's about right for hereabouts.

Nothing better to do than wonder about this and that. Like, how much better off the Planet would be after a really good 1912 Flu-type Pandemic.
How eradicating killer diseases like Malaria, Dengue, etc.; those mentioned by the seemingly well-intentioned Gates Foundation, causes more population pressure which in turn increases de-forestation and livestock methane production.

Off his head, either way.
Eradicating Malaria would be a more sensible and nearly possible aim.

And only for smart kids who want to go into fields which are 'useful'. So no 'Art History' majors. No poetry majors.
Mainly the 'hard sciences' and business.
Open to all smart children. But zero money to 'for profit' so called schools.
Actual universities and colleges only.
Open to all kids in the World, but schooling has to be in USA. With a preference for Americans. But really smart kids from elsewhere too.
If more kids than money, the cuts would start with less talented..
The add ons would be kids who are more motivated..
Have them sign a contract to 'pay it forward'.. That is an agreement to pay back only if they become a success, no interest. So if they graduate, and end up not doing well, they have a 'by' on repayment.
If they drop out, then they DO have to pay it back, eventually, but no interest.
I never could understand Bill Gates motivations.. IMO he is just nuts on the shit he picks.
and a very good article in The New Yorker a while back on Mosquitos and the harm they do while
providing no (yet) known benefit(s) to the Earth.
Perhaps though, helping keep the population down is their hidden benefit?

I think that's a reasonably good guess. Uninhabitable land turned into shopping malls and freeways. The mosquitoes are not that effective anymore since we learned how to drain swamps on a massive scale.
Artie Lange, I mean Arnie Stang. I don't see a conflict but it could starve the poor vampire bats.....

No, not really. Bill's focus seems to be pretty easy to discern. Does it confuse you?
