My brother lives in Idaho.
it was 33f a few days ago and Snowing enough to accumulate. Visibility 1/4 mile by his trained estimate.
Next week? Get out the lawn chairs and suntan lotion. It's going to be in the 50s.
SoCal is having a very wet winter but it is spaced out. Rain for a couple days followed by a week to dry out. Very few torrential rains, either. More like a good medium soaking. Runoff from the nearby hillside is continuous. That means very little soaking in. Awful CLAY soil is everything proof from water to bullet to radiation.
Snowpack is robust and will provide a LOT of water going forward. Drought, the worst of it, is temporarily over.
Too much is never enough
I'm west of NO in Metairie (it actually all runs together). It got very dark and looked Ike the end was coming for a while, but we just got some rain and small hail, but no damage. There was an 18 wheeler overturned nearby. Not sure what that was about. Like dancing sea monkeys said, the worst was New Orleans East. It's the same area devastated during Katrina.
It's 79 degrees right now in February. Meteorologists said that the warmth and a southerly wind were part of the problem-heat and moist air from the gulf.
Hi srdavis2000, thanks for the heads up on your location. Sorry, I forgot.
Glad you're ok.
BTW, I flew into there a few times. Once, it was a Boeing 707. I swear they pointed the nose down toward the ground until the last minute.
:)
Thanks, all is well in my neighborhood but N.O. east got clobbered pretty hard.
