I didn't use to like the fender skirt coming down over the front wheel but it grows on you in a good way after a while.

when you looked under the hood? I'm talking about something on the engine as compared to Fords from 1958 on.

And DC generator. Not AC alternator.
Those oil bath filters actually worked quite well. Provided you didn't bounce around, off-road (like what ppl did with early VW bugs and vans).
AC alternators were a big upgrade over the big, heavy, under-charging DC generators.
I don't think alternators were adopted until early 60s.
I'll bet it had to do with the availability of high current semicondoctor rectification.

...customized by my next door neighbor, Richard Zocchi, who passed away last October.
I like that one as well.I have a soft spot for mild customs.

IMHO that's the ugliest car I've seen in a while. And I felt exactly the same in 1956, when Lincoln also introduced the gorgeous Continental Mark II. How one car company could come up with that Premier and the Continental IN THE SAME YEAR baffles me.
I love the Mark ll and Mark lll and Mark 4 as well. I like every Mark they except the Mark Vl in 1980.I had a Mark Vlll for a while.
That Premier I thought was ugly because of the wheel skirts but the rest of car was quite an innovation for the time.It grows on you after a while.
