Nuts and seeds I lump with protein. I'm not much on grain since archeologists have proven there was no obesity in man until the Egyptians started milling grain and making bread. A simple carb....man made by the way.

Here is a good start. Note there was diabetes too a thousand years before refined sugar. Flour is a simple carbohydrate. Not good.

While I'm not trying to make a case that grain or finely ground wheat is the best thing for people I will state once again that over and over again it seems to be found that some if not all of the longest lived people on earth, the blue zone people, eat a high carb diet which includes grain of some sort, fruit , vegetables, pulse, nuts and seed. It is reported that they eat a very small amount of animal products. The evidence for a fairly high carbohydrate, whole plant food based diet with minimal animal food , lots of exercise and good relations with people is the way to go. A blanket or generalized rejection of carbs is utter nonsense. Much or any protein beyond what is needed to repair and maintain muscle is unnecessary. Let's just say 1.2g/km. about 70 gms a day for a 150lb person. Hey, let throw in another 30 and make it 100. 100g x 4 calories per gram is 400 calories. Where do the, say 1600 or so other calories needed come from?? Billions of people who eat even the evil refined white flour and white rice are not overweight. T456
