Seriously, can the major networks PLEASE get on with REAL news which is important/useful to know about?! I already know it's cold in North Dakota. I don't need to know about some shooting in whatever town. Who cares about an interview with Paula whats-her-name?
I want news that matters and affects my life.
Am I asking too much?

Click bait works. Stupid people click.
Maybe eventually stupid people will get tired of click bait? Maybe...
...what news would that be?Is it in the NY Times, WS Journal or Washington Post?
Edits: 12/10/16
Wall St Journal is ok but also questionable. The NYT and WAPO are an absolute joke and I guess that explains why the MSM has a 6% trust rating among Americans. They are all whining about social media and how people getting their news from there but when we saw the shenanigans the past year, what can they expect?
"For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong" H. L. Mencken
such things as fact-checking. They may not be perfect, but at least there exists with them some sort of nonsense filter, as opposed to most of the rest of the media, ESPECIALLY on-line outlets, where one has nearly no chance of getting anything properly verified. At this point it's getting impossible to trust any news OTHER than that supplied by established large-city papers with experienced, professional journalists, as opposed to so many of the unfiltered, grossly-biased (right AND left) on-line whack-job wannabes out there.

Fact Checking? According to whom? We have seen their biased fact checking and their coverup and collusion.
"For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong" H. L. Mencken
Yes, some sites are sketchy, but still: fact checkers are the best we've got to get to the bottom of things. They're all we've got.

Examples? Well, here is the 35 of them and we won't get into this year's lies/
"For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong" H. L. Mencken
...other than it fits your biases?
They list no sources or evidence against what's in their listing of 35 things. That is the first clue it's fake news.
"NaturalNews.com (formerly Newstarget, which is now a separate site) is a website run by Mike Adams (self-labeled "The Health Ranger") which promotes alternative medicine and related conspiracy theories and attacks on science.[2] Even other quacks think it's a quack site.[3]
The site particularly specializes in vaccine denialism and woo,[4] AIDS/HIV denialism,[5] quack cancer treatments,[6] and conspiracy theories about "Big Pharma"[7] and modern medicine in toto.
Furthermore, Adams supports quantum woo, specifically quantum healing[8] and quantum consciousness.[9] NaturalNews advances a hard green position, even though the site also promotes global warming denialism.[10] To top it off, Adams promotes conspiracy theories about gun control.[11]
If you cite NaturalNews on any matter whatsoever, you are almost certainly wrong."
It's like I told you months ago,you are living in the west coast bubble and you had no idea what was going on in the real world and middle America because the media never reported it. We saw this with Brexit and several other countries in the world.
Why the do think the media has a 6% trustworthy rate among the American people? It was almost like they were proud to put their bias on display.I'm not talking just about politicians,I'm talking about news in general.
When an African American kid gets shot by a police officer, the media will report on it for months. If a white or Hispanic kid gets shot and killed in a police tussle,it's only reported in local news.It actually happens more frequently than it does with AA kids but the media and their controlling power structure have an objective, and that is to eventually control every citizen in the world.Globalism is alive and well and we are seeing the fruits of it in a big way.
"For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong" H. L. Mencken
...and then continue to rant about the real media.
Ironic? Do you even know the difference?
like "Hillary killed "(fill in the blank)," or Pizzagate.
To be fair, examples like Trump's "trumped up" claims about saving Carrier jobs is not the kind of "fake news" we're talking about either.
Wikileaks has never gotten it wrong in all the time they have been in existence. We saw first hand, the collusion of the media to help one candidate vs another. We saw first hand, how the MSM reported very little on the Wikileaks releases who once again, has never gotten it wrong the whole time they have been in existence.
When six companies control the media, the so called fact checkers, and even the poling,we are going to produce the result from the perspective of the media and their cronies, not the actual truth. We heard all the nonsense of how it was Russia that hacked the DNC and Podesta's emails, as to somehow think that was justification for the behavior of the individuals exposed when it wasn't.
Now,we haven't heard from Julian Assange in a while so the global power structure could be up to almost anything. FWIW,I believe it was the FBI or CIA that released the DNC and Clinton campaign documents to Wikileaks, because some of the more principled individuals within those places wanted to see justice served. Also, lets not forget that it was the DHS that told us there were WMDs in Iraq and they are the same people telling us that the Russians were involved in the hack.
The media has become an arm of the two party establishment and it is owned by the very people that buy and control our govt.It doesn't really operate that much different from a dictatorship anymore.

...the Russians were successful using Assange to get their puppet elected so apparently they stopped.
The Russians did this and the Russians did that.
And you know that how? From Chuck Todd and George Stephie feeding it to you? And how do they know?
On a related topic, I surmise that the Russians hacked the DNC because they thought Clinton would be elected, and wanted to get a jump on the ensuing cyber espionage. I have no source - I deduced that all by myself. The "news" media seem hell-bent on pushing the notion that the Russians wanted Trump to be elected, which makes zero sense - the Russians have been walking all over Obama, and Clinton and Kerry, for almost eight years.
:)
...how do they know?
US Intelligence Agencies told them.
And they now have a puppet who doesn't believe our national intelligence agencies.
No. It's "Mission Accomplished" for Putin and his merry gang. And Pamela Anderson is taking care of Assange. What a collection of mopes. Makes deplorables look like first-class citizens. It's like MAD Magazine.
"Now,we haven't heard from Julian Assange in a while so the global power structure could be up to almost anything."
They cut off his internet access.
However it will probably be returned after January when all this is settled. Ecuador offered the US lessons in human rights ad almost turned down the foreign aid, but stopped short.
I would say they don't want the US as an enemy or to be seen as having influenced the election.
That is my estimation, I suspect Assange will be back online in about February.
"We heard all the nonsense of how it was Russia that hacked the DNC and Podesta's emails, as to somehow think that was justification for the behavior of the individuals exposed when it wasn't."
I still want to now how the hell they figure that got pulled off. If they can do that we have alot worse of a problem. They must be really really good with computers, and remember this is the same CIA that said there were WMDs in Iraq.
I hope this is the only thread like this I see soon. Once in a while it is OK but really, we all know they all lie. The media won the right in the US courts to lie with impunity. Sure, laws have been passed against that but what people do not realize is that they are not enforceable.
There are arguments on Usenet about simple power ratings of amplifiers. You could trust the lumens per watt ratings of lightbulbs. Not no more. The FTC just busted a bunch of them lying about that.
I guess lightbulb manufacturers want to keep you in the dark LOL
Sorry, I just couldn't resist.
I hope his internet is returned and I hope he is ok.I would like to see him and Edward Snowden pardoned because I think they did us a great service exposing the spying that was going on and how our rights of human dignity are now in jeopardy.
Thankfully,we have some principled people left in out govt but even those can succumb to threats on their life or a family member's life.

bye-bye, apparently obsolete. And as it goes, so will our culture. I'm well aware of sounding like a crank (and with irony, stating it in this venue) but it seems that the once optimistically-touted "information superhighway" may be biting our butts in a culturally terminal way. ANYBODY can put ANYTHING out there, and chances are, large numbers of people will believe them counter-factually if it's what they WANT to believe. No news here, ha ha.

Agreed. They don't even hide their bias or lies anymore and they just protest the status-quo regardless of who it is.

...what you perceive as "bias" and "facts".
Bias tends to be on the editorial page under the heading of "opinion".
Facts can be checked - they are real things - not someone's opinion.
I doubt the network news or major newspapers are not factual.
And sources from fake news with no sources or references are not proof.
You got that right

I just ordered more vitamins last night. I order 4 times a year from Puritans. I always get the higher doses. I used to take fish oil until I found out much of it comes out of the polluted Chinese waters so I switched to Krill oil which is much more expensive but worth it.
