One or more studies show taurine may help with ringing. I've been on it for quit some time at less than 2g a day and it has not helped a far as I can tell. I'm taking it for tinnitus though. I will up my dose to between 3 and 3.5 g a day. The powder is cheap and has almost no flavor. T456

shows interesting points on Taurine. No mention of Tinnitus, but WebMD isn't gospel anyhow.
The "benefits" remind me of another positive natural substance-Tumeric.
Both are not guarantees, but for some, it does provide healing/soothing effects to a degree.
I also deal with degenerative arthritis in BOTH wrists and have tried many natural supplements(including Tumeric), but all have failed.
Pain and noise are unfortunately a part of my everyday life. I just grin and listen to the stereo when I have the opportunity.
Not holding my breath on future research finding cures for either ailment.
Thanks for the info. I hope you have positive results with it.
"I also deal with degenerative arthritis in BOTH wrists and have tried many natural supplements(including Tumeric), but all have failed."Read carefully. Take a chicken and cut it up haphazardly, exposing the marrow and tear the shit out of the cartilage. After about 45 minutes or so, take it out and pull all the meat off the bones. Then put the bones back in the water and boil for another few hours, you might need to add water.
After that put back in the meat and of course the usual carrots and whatever else you like. But MAKE SURE you take the meat out and boil the living shit out of those bones.
No matter what you put in it, try to eat a bowl of this broth at least every other day. When you boil it like that is extracts some of the nutrients your body needs to repair the problem. Remember the saying "You are what you eat" ? You are born what, eight pounds ? There is no argument.
Anyway, you can do this with beef if you want, though I have found it hard to find good beef bones in the stores, whole chickens are easier to find. I wouldn't go with turkey because they really lack nutrients, they are the cheapest animals to raise.
So get the chickens and do that for a couple months, after two months you should notice an improvement. If not, you may have a malabsorbtion condition and I am not sure I can help with that except to say to try to get all of your minerals.
Since that is a chronic condition it it probably caused by either a deficiency or a malabsorption. Type two diabetes usually is caused by a chromium or vanadium deficiency, other than physical damage to the pancreas. Gall bladder problems can be caused by a sulfur deficiency. These are minerals, elements, and cannot be manufactured. You need these.
You don't need them every day, and it would be impractical to try to get them every day. What's more, if you look back and Google for senate document 264 you will see that they knew it back in the 1930s. Problem is there is no solution. A head of lettuce would be ten bucks. To comprehensively really make the land right again would cost a fortune. They simply can't do it, and if they did we would not pay for it.
Well there are exceptions, people do buy the organic stuff, free range meat and all that, but look what it costs. Over three times the normal shit.
But anyway, get drunk and take a big knife to a chicken, cut it up anyway you damn well please. After an hour take it out and take all the meat off it and throw the bones back in for a few more hours, and make sure it does not run out of water. The broth in that pot is worth more than gold.
If you can get beef bones it is even better because the supplements they get are better.
See, the land is still played out but animal husbandry professionals go out and prescribe EFFECTIVE mineral supplements, instead of a salt lick. They mix it in the feed now.
Bottom line - boil bones, boil cartilage actually. And keep doing it. In a few months you should be quite a bit better. We get the mineral supplements because the animals got them, and then we eat them.

this is excellent, I remembered my grandmother making it this way, an hour, peel off meat, then back in for a couple more hours. she made the neck too. regardless this is very health.
very awesome you reminded me of this method.
my granny never had problems with ANY arthritis until she stopped making chicken soup like this. she got older, stopped cooking due to finding out about microwaves, then fell apart.
something about this that resonates with me.
JURB,
Thanks for the response. I am a believer in "you are what you eat"
This is some valuable info. It does make sense- the magic is in the broth.
" Osteoarthritis Symptoms Improved by Glycine.pdf" Published evidence shows "anti inflammatory" action of glycine in certain situations, can be found on PUBMED. T456

Thanks for the info. I can't read ENOUGH on possible relief.
24-7 PAIN really is exhausting mentally besides the obvious physical discomfort.
My specialist years ago advised me of the only known treatment, which is ridiculously invasive surgery. The outcome is SHORTER LENGTH arms from removing the damaged pieces, the surrounding bone structure "falls" into the void also resulting in limited range of motion. I'm leaving out details but that's my option at this point. No amazing stem cell technology or whatever is on the horizon.
Since all the cartilage in these areas are gone, I'm basically screwed. I can do most things, I just have limits with varying degrees of pain. My guitar playing and physical hobbies-cycling/skiing have time limits due to discomfort.
How does this area look? On bad days, the inflammation looks like I have a quartet slice of a ping pong ball sunk into my wrists! Picture a normal range of motion of a limp wrist. About 90 degress? I have about 30.
Oh well, when I plop a favorite record on the table, temporary relief from both the tinnitus and arthritis. We grit our teeth/smile and be greatful things aren't worse as others.
I do have a craving for a fabulous chicken soup, as JURB has recomended.

Well DV, you should have gotten to me 30 years ago. IL-6 is a bad guy in many inflammatory conditions according to research. This includes osteoarthritis and maybe pain. I suggest considering the use of a Vit K complex with K1 and MK2 and MK4. Evidence points to it being a IL-6 lowering agent. I will soon be switching from the rather expensive LEF product to the product below. Vit D3 also... You have to look into the blood viscosity thing with Vit. K use to make sure your doctor ok's it since you have had a stroke...Vitacost Ultra Vitamin K with Advanced K2 Complex -- 90 Softgels

Yo DV, sorry to hear that your wrists are so far gone. Lots of stuff on supposed pain relief and for the reduction of inflammation. I could go on forever. Actually there is evidence that music is pain relieving under some circumstances. You might look into melatonin, 5HTP, ginger, bosswella, opium, weed... if you already haven't. Stay from the news. You're knowledge/suggestions are greatfully appreciated.
Yeah, I incorporate natural pain relieve to take the edge off.
"Stray from the news"
No kidding! Constant reminder we are in Supermans "bizarro" world now.
The VitK thing is interesting. Something to discuss with the primary Dr. Otherwise, overall good health and a supportive S.O. help keep perspective.
As long as the table is spinning with a clean record, I'm good!
The "magic" that's in the broth is or maybe glycine. It's amazing that someone would bring this up now because I've just looked into this and have started on 10g of glycine a day. Glycine supposedly offsets the negative effects of too much methionine in a muscle meat based diet. It is considered to be anti inflammatory. Dr. Joel Brine thinks it is a or the big screw up in our diets that is responsible for much of the inflammatory disease out there. It seems to me that the amount of auto immune and inflammatory disease out there is off the scale. Joel Brind has a video about his take on the subject. " The effect of supplemental dietary taurine on tinnitus and auditory discrimination in an animal model." This from PUBMED. Yep, they came up with a way to test it in rodents. I didn't see a human test. Maybe rats have all the money these days? Someone on the net has reported it helped them. You might try high or very high polyphenol olive oil on the wrists.References:

No abstract but the net reports OO was better than piroxicam.
