I found a small plaster (12") Kokopelli at Goodwill for (hard to remember exactly) a whole dollar. It had a little nick in the plaster of the front.
I really liked it and had it on the wall next to my apt door.
If yu do not know what a kokopelli is:
Well today it was GONE!
It sat there for about 7 years... and now it is in some thieving bastards hands..
(my one exception to wanting the crooks dead and impaled on a big spike etc.. would be if an actual Hopi saw it and thought it was being treated without proper respect?)
(The hallways are full of folks trinkets, I would say 200 or so items, mostly framed art, on the walls.. So mine was not alone out there waiting for the criminals to strike!)
I almost called the FBI.. but they would certainly say it was not a valuable ancient artifact, so they would do nothing!!!!!!!!
If I only knew how to put an evil curse on the perps... Like growing hair on their eyeballs..

But man, do I dislike thieves. I seriously dislike them.
Sorry you had to experience that. You are putting the proper perspective on it, and I admire that. It's not always easy to do.
Kokopelli stayed with me for seven years.. maybe it is just time for him to move on.
Stuff like that catches up with one in unsuspected ways.

Now you have me worried,I have my security team working overtime.
"I almost called the FBI.. but they would certainly say it was not a valuable ancient artifact, so they would do nothing!!!!!!!!"Well, since you got it for a dollar at Goodwill, they'd be correct. Anyway, the FBI doesn't get involved with petty theft - that's what the local police do. Still, it's more than a little presumptuous for you to assume what they might or might not do if you had contacted them.

.
We recently had a litter box nicked off our patio stoop.
Though - as it was USA plastic the current replacment value is $15-$18.
Kokopelli deals in Hopi karma. Pray for their damned souls.
Cheers,
