Got four of the series (1966, 67, 68, 69). First to arrive seems quite complete.
Also got Ed Gilbert's, "US Marine Corp, Amphibious Force." Good summary of order of command. Logistics. Weapons. Attached units to the infantry. Not as much battle maps.
Thanks, for the recommendations.

This is the book of my Dads outfit in Vietnam.
He spent a year at Nui Dat as 2IC of Australian Army 161 Recce Flight.
A lot of detail, and stories.

A book you would likely like, Chicken Hawk nicely mixed the absurdity of the Vietnam War with an experts description of the sensations of flying a helicopter.
I understand that it is / can be an exceedingly complex task. One viewpoint is that is is easier for a fixed wing pilot to learn.
And the opposite viewpoint also has adherents.
I have flown in choppers quite a lot, both with a half section or section (squad?) and also as the sole passenger on reconnaissances.
NOEarth flying is exhilarating. As is ravine work!
What ought to have been my most memorable chopper ride, is at best a vague blur. See below.
