I'm glad you caught the humorous intention in that.

...as you pass the exit for St. Ben's.
I presume the St. Bens your referring to is St. Benedicts College near St. Cloud???
That's near I-94 if I remember correctly and a track that's hardly used.
Our line is double main (East & West) and follows U.S. 10 near downtown next to the Amtrak station and the old fairgrounds.

That is indeed the exit I was referring to, but I had forgotten that you're a railroader. There's a lot of coal traffic through that area by Hwy 10 supplying the Becker power plant. There's also a hump yard in St Cloud, unless I'm mistaken.
You are correct.
I've been in that NSP power plant at Becker more times (hundreds) than I care to remember. The line by Hwy 10 is the main East West line between Chicago and Seattle/Portland.
The only "institution" I go by in St. Cloud is a big solid granite block wall affair with guard turrets every 200 ft surrounding it..........

Heh. The locals refer to that particular institution as the "Granite College".
I rode the Empire Builder from St Cloud out to Portland once. As we passed through the Williston area it was about 35 below zero, and some air leakage in the club car caused a little snow drift to form in front of the bar. Not the smartest thing I've ever done (we didn't have a sleeper), although there were numerous tales acquired that made for some good storytelling.
