Of course we knew it was American and probably a Ford if you posted it. I don't consider it a sports car even with it finally getting independent rear suspension.
So that outsells Porsche in Germany? Hard to believe.

No but I am firmlybin the Mopar camp and realize our cars still handle inferior to top notch sports cars.

I like Mopars but our cars handle very well now with a few mods in many cases..My 2004 Mustang GT handles very well even with its live rear axle because I have Koni Coilovers,dual real stabilizer bars,and a close ratio rack.I put these in aftermarket but it made a world of difference.

And yet when Top Gear tested the 500hp live axle Shelby on their track against one with 400hp but IRS fitted the Shelby lost.
Going by the numerous Mustang Fail vids on YT Mustangs like to go straight when cornering and corner on straights but I put the latter down to drivers with more money than skill.

Most people that buy muscle cars in the US are buying them for the saturday night boulevard brawl of drag racing in a straight line.Our culture has never been one of driving around on twist and turns because we are a large country with long interstate highways.If you live in Mass or Vermont, there are more road curves but not in most of the country.

And that is why they will never sell in significant numbers in Europe: We have no straight roads.
You absolutely need good cornering and brakes to enjoy a car here.
In Germany, Italy and as far as I know France american cars have a further problem: Cars are taxed by engine size. In Germany you pay a set amount for every 100cc so a 2.5L with 250hp will always outsell a 5L with same power.
It might seem like the state is overtaxing its people to you but for the last 40 years or so this simple piece of legislation has pushed european engine design way ahead of the US or UK (flat rate tax system here).

I don't buy that because you have the Ford Falcon and Focus and several Holdens in your country alone..Of course,those would be considered more Aussie I would guess but they are like our cars.

The Ford Focus was designed by Ford Europe to compete with Europe's perennial best selling car, the VW Golf. I was surprised that they started selling it in the US a year or two later.
The only time I've seen a Falcon was on holiday in Australia.

Last year it came 4th behind the Toyota Corolla, VW Golf and the Ford F-series.
I would not call the Focus an american car since it was 100% designed in Europe developed from what used to be called the Escort. Up until now Ford USA and Ford Europe have been practically different companies who very little besides a name except the Ford Europe has been propping up Ford USA financially for lengthy stretches of time. Just like Opel was or still is propping up GM.

Several have told me that German designed cars are designed to be driven at the absolute fastest they can go, by normal people.
Nobody else makes cars and tests them for driving at the max.

But the thing is american cars do NOT sell well there.No american car made the top 30 sales list in Germany. There are Fords in there but they are Focus, Fiesta and Ka. All small european designs, the Focus being the largest of the 3.

My daily driving exists on real world streets having curves where the S2000 always puts a grin on my face.
How often do you drag race on the street? Interstates?
Wifey's Boxster has launch control with the dual clutch PDK which was fun at first, but midengined cars with 1G lateral cornering ability are by far more entertaining long term on the twisties. There's a 90 degree corner near our neighborhood where she has gotten the lateral acceleration meter to register 1.01 G. It's been a bit of a game for her to get the highest result. :)
Most Street racing in America has always been straight line acceleration.Go on youtube and all you see are straight line 1520 drag races..I don't drag race anymore but we always drag raced on the interstates or the street just as you see today..This is how they entertain on saturaday nights.
