They have to eat at least twice their body weight daily or they'll die.
They do fly-bys and then come in hot multiple times daily to hit my feeders. I placed two out back; one just outside the kitchen window.
They almost 'bark' rather than tweet; scared the heck out of my mom who was visiting last year!
I make my own feed, simply dissolved sugar water. They go through a gallon every two weeks!

not sure what's going on with it.
I'd set my STROBES up outside, aimed at the feeder near the kitchen. inside, my camera and use the flash sensor on each stobe to trigger the flash. Run some exposure tests at the FASTEST shutter speed you can get your camera to Sync at. Be prefocused at the point of interest. Try for a mid-aperture which will be the best quality that lens will do.
Give me a call and I'll make a run over with some goodies. I've got 800 watt/second of Alien Bee, umbrellas, reflectors and what-not. They'll never escape!
