On the RIDE ALONG I did with the local PD, I saw NO SIGN of excess Sugar or Energy drinks. Guy I rode with had some interesting stories, one of which was WRESTLING with a suspect who apparently was going for his sidearm. The Officer? MMA training so that was a non-starter.
I couldn't take that as a daily routine. I doubt many HERE could, either. And with the jacked-up tension situation going on across the entire country, it's gonna get worse before better.
The cop appreciated stopping by MY house for some lunch and a few minutes out of the car.

Well PG, this proves Inmate51's theory. You saw no sugar and energy drinks and I will assume , if I may, that on your ride along with the police you didn't see him blow away some black dude in the back while he was running away or on the ground under control for no good reason. This is pure Spock like logic. I rest Inmate51's case. T
I could have gone ANY time of my choosing. I took a DAY ride where I could observe other than gang activity. We DID see some weird stuff. But we also did some good in that ONE guy had a car smashed in very late one night. We got there and saw the damage and started taking the report. The guy found the LICENSE PLATE and piece of front end IN THE STREET. Tracking down the car and owner, we found the kid a couple blocks away sleeping it off. We took him to the guy who's car he crashed and they worked it out. I hope. Leaving the scene of an accident was on the table but shelved pending resolution. Good, low profile job.
We saw some druggies needing help and also responded to a call resulting in a 5150, which here is a 72hour involuntary psychiatric hold.
