Hmmm. Books recently finished"After the Victorians" A.N. Wilson.
"Rome" Robert Hughes
"Winston's War" Max Hastings-Knopf
and on the go?"Anzac to Amiens' C.E.W. Bean - Penguin paperback series - cheap and well worth a read. for more click below.
"Gallipoli Air War" Hugh Dolan - rivetting story of the use of aircraft and balloons by the MEF and especially at Anzac.
"The Thin Red Line" James Jones
Not started? "A Confederacy of Dunces". Can't find it, put it down somewhere, and can't remember where.

I read it about 30 years ago, and am due for a re-reading of it.
For something light and funny, try "The Rosie Project"
but then it's NOT summer in your neck of the woods.
Of that list only read COD, which has moments of absolute brilliance.
