Seen in a Seattle store, display only. Actual bottle of 25-year-old Macallan was in a vault somewhere.
Actual price is in the small print, $2,051.

Is this a single malt or Blended?
If blended, it probably can be near-duplicated for a Fraction of the ask.
If single malt? Well beyond MY means, that's for sure.
Rerun of CASTLE last nite featured a 25,000$ bottle of Scotch which was for Jimmy Walker, known as Beau james, former and corrupt Mayor of New York City.

"Jimmy Walker, known as Beau james, former and corrupt Mayor of New York City."
Ha!
Actually, when was the last time NYC had a Mayor, or NY State a Governor, who wasn't corrupt?

Agreed. And for THAT matter, New Jersey, too.
But on a strictly PER CAPITA basis and spread evenly thru government, I'll award the Crown to ILLINOIS.
Several governors served in prison. Enough OTHER politicians that they named one wing of the State Prison the 'Otto Kerner Jr. Wing'.
And it continues right up to today. Hizzonor? Blagovich? Rahm 'The Man' Emanuel? (last is not yet indicted, but just wait.)
Hizzonor? His motto was 'Vote Early and Vote Often'. Pretty much says it all.

Convicted THAN reelected. Cool.
I don't know the general corruption or conviction rate in DC so for now, I'm sticking with Illinois and Chicago in particular, if I must choose a single city

a bottle of Scotch?
Just curious.

I wanted to find out what the hype was all about so I picked up a $100 bottle - only to find out that I was slightly allergic to something in the mix. And truth be told, I didn't really like the taste. I tried sipping it slowly and I tried it watered down, no luck...So after a couple of shot glasses full I gave the rest of the bottle away to a tried and true alcoholic.

It's a good thing Bill Gates lives in the neighborhood. Even if he doesn't drink Scotch, it'd be nice to have it on hand for a Bridge night with the guys.

Shipping costs are MUCH lower and they pass that savings on to the customer.

Personally I'm not much into the artificially dark and smooth sherry aged whiskys.
A $120 bottle of Laphroig or Bowmore will do me 😀

Wonder what makes it so $$$$. Seems like one of those crazy "whisky-scotch" status things. You know, "I only drink _."
Ugh. 8^)
I think that it's the age. It's 25 year old. Most scotches are 12-15 years old. I have a half bottle of 12 yr. old sherry cask aged Mc that runs around $30 something a fifth.
Bourbon prices are going up as well. The Buffalo Trace distillery produces bourbons that are often "on allotment", adding to fever of getting them whenever you can find them.
Most of the major bourbon and rye distilleries are engaged in adding distilling capacity, aging warehouses, and securing steady supplies of oak barrels. That's all well and fine but bourbon needs at least four years in the barrel to be adequate and often doesn't arrive in full until at least six to eight years. You have to be extremely confident in the desirability of your product or quite a gambler on the consumption trend maintaining its arc to be making the big investments in bourbon production these days.
